S. Hardeep Singh Mundian, the Minister for Revenue, Rehabilitation, and Disaster Management in Punjab, announced today that the state government, led by Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, is dedicated to providing compensation for the losses incurred by residents due to recent floods. The government is also focused on ensuring timely relief and rehabilitation for those affected.
As an immediate response, the Punjab Government has allocated a total of ₹71 crore to address the flood situation. Initially, ₹35.50 crore was distributed to all districts in the first phase, and an additional ₹35.50 crore has now been approved for 12 districts that experienced the most significant damage.
Additional Chief Secretary and Financial Commissioner Revenue, Sh. Anurag Verma, provided a breakdown of the district-wise allocations: Amritsar - ₹5 crore, Bathinda - ₹2 crore, Barnala - ₹1 crore, Faridkot - ₹1 crore, Ferozepur - ₹5 crore, Fazilka - ₹5 crore, Fatehgarh Sahib - ₹1 crore, Gurdaspur - ₹6.5 crore, Hoshiarpur - ₹3 crore, Jalandhar - ₹5 crore, Kapurthala - ₹5 crore, Ludhiana - ₹5 crore, Moga - ₹1.5 crore, Mansa - ₹1 crore, Malerkotla - ₹1 crore, Patiala - ₹5 crore, Pathankot - ₹4 crore, Rupnagar - ₹2.5 crore, Sri Muktsar Sahib - ₹2 crore, SAS Nagar - ₹2 crore, SBS Nagar - ₹1 crore, Sangrur - ₹1.5 crore, and Tarn Taran - ₹5 crore.
Mundian emphasized that the government is taking all necessary measures to protect lives and property, ensuring that affected families receive the support they need promptly. He highlighted that the Mann Government is focusing on both immediate relief efforts and long-term rehabilitation strategies, particularly for farmers who have suffered extensive crop losses.
